Every day, 12,000 people become unpaid carers for a partner, family member or a friend (1). This year, Carers Rights Day is on Thursday 21 November 2024 – and this year’s theme is recognising your rights.
In Essex, there’s an estimated 124,000 unpaid carers in Essex (2). You are an unpaid carer if you look after, help or support someone who wouldn’t be able to manage everyday life without your help. You have rights to access local information, advice and support.
