A safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment

“I attend the weekly SEN swimming sessions at Leisure World with my daughter. From the moment we arrive, I feel reassured knowing that both my daughter and I are supported by staff who genuinely understand the needs of children with additional needs.

While I had some concerns in the past, it is clear that staff training has significantly improved, and the difference this has made is wonderful to see.

The staff consistently show patience, understanding, and a willingness to learn.

Monika, in particular, has always been incredibly supportive; not only to us, but to other attendees and to leisure world staff members as well.

One staff member who has shown significant growth is Natisha. I would like to highlight an occasion where my daughter became very distressed after discovering her swim nappy had ripped.

This quickly escalated into a crisis, which could easily have ended our session early. Natisha went out of her way to help by sourcing a replacement swim nappy for us.

This simple but thoughtful action completely changed the outcome of the situation and allowed my daughter to calm down and continue enjoying the session.

For SEN parents, small acts like this carry enormous meaning, as they show genuine understanding and care.

Because of the support shown by staff like Monika and Natisha, the SEN swimming sessions feel like a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. These experiences make a real difference to families like ours.”

About Leisure World swim sessions

SEND Sensation works in partnership with Colchester Leisure World to offer families After School Sessions, every Tuesday 4:30pm – 6:00pm, in the leisure pool. We also run regular sessions during Half Terms and Holidays.
