Fancy a FREE day out at Colchester Zoo during the October Half Term?
We’re so excited to be teaming up with Colchester Zoo to offer SEND families the chance to enjoy a FREE day out during the October Half Term.
Whether your child loves watching the elephants, exploring the different habitats or simply spending time outdoors, this is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a fun, relaxed day together as a family. There’s no timetable to follow – just arrive, explore at your own pace and make the most of everything the zoo has to offer.
How to book
To give as many families as possible the opportunity to enjoy this experience, we are trying a new booking system for this event.
To secure a ticket, please email essexshortbreaks@sendsensation.co.uk by 5pm on Friday 16th October. All entries will be collected and tickets will be randomly allocated.
Anyone who isn’t lucky enough to get a ticket will be automatically added to the list for our next zoo event. If you have attended a Zoo event before, please give other families an opportunity to book this time – thank you!
Terms and Conditions
- You must include your Short Breaks Passport ID (found next to your child’s name in your Short Breaks account) in your email to us please
- Book 1 ticket per person
- Your place is not confirmed until you receive an email from SEND Sensation confirming your place
- All email addresses are collected and tickets will be randomly allocated
- If you receive a ticket but you are unable to attend, please let us know by Friday 23rd October. We know sometimes life happens! This way we can allocate your ticket to another family
- If you receive tickets for this or future events and fail to attend three times without giving SEND Sensation notice, you will no longer be eligible to enter future event ticket draws
Who can attend?
Each booking includes:
- One SEND child with a valid Short Break Passport Number.
- One parent or carer.

Accessibility

On the day
Please arrive outside the main entrance by 10:00am, where a member of the SEND Sensation team will be there to welcome you and give you the ticket before you head off to enjoy your day.
Spaces are limited, so we recommend booking early to avoid missing out. We can’t wait to see you there and hope you have a fantastic day making some wonderful Autumn memories together!
