Over the past few weeks, SEND Sensation has been out and about, visiting some amazing schools and chatting with parents, carers, and staff about all the exciting things happening at SEND Sensation.
We were thrilled to attend three fantastic coffee mornings at:
• Lexden School
• Oaklands School
• Thriftwood School
These events gave us the chance to meet face-to-face with parents, carers, and school staff, and share everything SEND Sensation has to offer for children and young people with SEND in Mid and North Essex.
Why we do it
These coffee mornings are such a brilliant way to meet families face-to-face. We know that finding the right activities and support for children with SEND isn’t always easy, there’s so much out there, but not everything feels accessible or clear. That’s where we come in.
We spent our time chatting with parents, answering questions, sharing what SEND Sensation has to offer, and hopefully making things a little bit easier for families looking for fun, inclusive clubs and events.
Whether it’s after-school activities, weekend clubs, holiday activities, family events or relaxed performances, we want to make sure every child with SEND has the chance to join in, try new things, and just have fun.
Real conversations, real impact
What made these mornings really special was hearing from parents, carers and school staff about what families actually need. It wasn’t just about handing out flyers, it was about listening.
We had some important conversations, heard about real challenges, and also got some great ideas for how we can do even more going forward. Every parent wants to feel supported and know their child is included, and we’re here to make that happen, one step at a time.
What’s Next?
We’re planning to visit even more schools and community spaces in the future. If you’d like us to come to your school or host a session for your parent group, we’d love to hear from you – get in touch!
In the meantime, you can explore all of our upcoming clubs and events right here on our website, or reach out to us directly if you need help finding the right activity for your child.
If you didn’t catch us at the schools, you’ve still got time to come and say hello!
We’ll be at the next Essex Local Offer Roadshow on Wednesday 5 November 2025 in Harwich. Join us between 9.30am and 12.30pm at The Waterfront, Lower Marine Parade, Harwich, Essex CO12 3SS. The Roadshows are a great chance for parents and carers to meet us in person, ask questions, and find out what clubs and activities are running near you. We’d love to see you there!
Also coming up in November, we’re running two relaxed Parent Voices group sessions, and we’d love for you to join us. These sessions are all about you, your experiences, your ideas, and your feedback. It’s a friendly, informal space where you can tell us what’s working, what could be better, and what you’d love to see more of. Whether you’re full of ideas or just want to listen in and connect with other parents, you’re very welcome.
Together, we can make sure every child has access to fun, inclusive activities, and every parent feels supported in their journey.
